MMA/UFC Sportsbooks
Ever since the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing began in 1948, sports and automotive enthusiasts have enjoyed placing bets on the outcome of races. Whether its an exhibition race or the esteemed Sprint Cup Series, Nascar races make a great event for bettors to place wagers on. Although friends, family and co-workers may put together small, private pools, most Nascar enthusiasts prefer to place their bets at online Nascar sportsbooks.
Betting on Nascar races at an online sportsbook is easy. The sportsbook will ask a new bettor to register an account and make a deposit before any wagering may occur. Once membership has been acquired, making a wager is as easy as picking a favorite driver or car. Depending on what the sportsbook offers, a bettor may place a bet on a driver to either win overall, place in the top three or compete against another driver. Each of these Nascar wagers has its own set value for odds and pay outs.
Wager to Win
On a Nascar wager to win, a bettor will pick the driver that he feels will win the race. Each driver is given his own set of odds, which will determine the amount paid to the bettor in the event of a winning wager. In every Nascar race there is a favorite. The favorite is the driver who is most likely to win. Many beginning bettors will make the mistake of always picking the favorite. Anything can happen in a Nascar race, and a favorite will not always win. When a Nascar favorite does win, the payout is not as good. Odds listed on a driver as +200 will pay out $200 for every $100 wagered if the driver is to win. In some cases it may be favorable to make a small bet on an underdog as the payout will be much greater than what the bettor put in.
Wager to Place
When wagering on Nascar drivers to place, a bettor is putting money on a driver that he thinks will end up in the top three at the end of the race. These bets offer lower payouts as the money must be divided three ways by the sportsbook. When betting on Nascar drivers to place, some sportsbooks may list the best drivers with a negative number, such as -150. In this situation a bettor would receive $100 back for every $150 wagered. However, when wagering for a driver to place, it is important to remember that the driver must only come in third place or better. Picking a Nascar driver who is an underdog but who might have the possibility of coming in third is a good way to win big.
Wager Against Driver
Some Nascar sportsbooks offer wagers that pit two drivers against one another. The winning bet is determined by the driver’s finishing rank. The actual position of the rank is not important for this type of Nascar bet. The only thing that is considered is which driver was better than the other. Nascar sportsbooks that offer driver against driver bets will list one as the favorite and the other as the underdog. These drivers will be given negative and positive odds respectively. For example, the underdog could be listed with +140 odds and the favorite could be listed with -120 odds. A bet placed on the underdog would gain $140 for every $100 wagered. A bet placed on the Nascar driver who is the favorite would gain $100 for every $120 wagered.
Field Wagers
Most Nascar races have a large number of drivers. Placing odds on each one would be tedious. Therefore, many Nascar sportsbooks will list the top ten to twenty drivers with separate odds and then compile the rest into one overall wager. This is known as a Field wager. When playing the field a bettor is actually placing money on several different cars at once. The Field is a tempting Nascar wager, as the pay out is usually quite high. However, it is not always a wise choice. The Field consists of the Nascar drivers who are least likely to win or place. It is a very rare occasion when a Field wager pays off.
Placing Bets on Nascar Races
Once signed up at a Nascar sportsbook, a new bettor can jump right in and start placing wagers. Depending on the Nascar sportsbook, there may be requirements such as a minimum wager amount that must be fulfilled. Not every Nascar sportsbook will carry the same events, so bettors may be required to seek out a sportsbook that will carry the race they wish to wager on. To place a bet, a bettor must first make a deposit into his or her sportsbook account. The money may then be used to wager on Nascar players in a variety of bets. Bettors can simply select the Nascar driver of their choice and fill in the amount of money they wish to wager. After the race is over, any winnings will be deposited into a bettor’s sportsbook account.
